Transitional shelter guidelines: review draft

The transitional shelter guidelines: review draft presents a definition and 10 principles of transitional shelter. They intend to support practitioners in their decision whether transitional shelter may be an appropriate response option, and offer guidance how to design and implement a transitional shelter programme together with affected communities.

This draft is reviewed through a peer review process at the Shelter Meeting 11b in order to achieve consensus from the humanitarian community. The document will undergo further revision to implement the review comments made.

These guidelines are intended to be consistent with government structures and humanitarian coordination mechanisms, supporting both in developing and implementing a transitional shelter strategy for each specific response.
