The Shelter Library is a publicly available archive that contains technical guidance and numerous case-studies on shelter resettlement after conflict and disaster.
Since its launch in October 2008, the Shelter Library has been accessed from 210 countries and territories.
How to use the Shelter Centre Library
There are 4 different ways to find the resources.
- Zoom and find - get resources especifically related to an area using the world map.
- Search the term - use the search bar to find documents categorised by keyword.

Featured Resource
CORE is a training programme, funded by ECHO and DFID, which consists of Training of Trainers (ToT) and Workshop training programmes. It offers for the first time the opportunity for all humanitarian stakeholders to agree and deliver the same introductory humanitarian technical training, carrying the messages of the CCCM, Early Recovery, Emergency Shelter, Protection and Wash clusters of the IASC, as a foundation to humanitarian capacity building, DDR and national resilience.

Featured Case Study
Despite the hundreds of shelter projects completed around the world every year after conflicts and natural disasters, there are few compilations of case studies and best practices. As a result, an opportunity to consolidate learning from what has gone before has been lost.
This book shares with the humanitarian community over 30 case studies of completed emergency and transitional shelter projects. The project summaries included aim to illustrate some of the shelter project options available to organisations working in both post-disaster and post-conflict situations. The focus of this book is on projects which maximize the use of emergency response funds by paving the way for sustainable recovery.
